Italian is Beautiful, German is ugly

 

Most people say that some languages are more pleasing to listen to than others. Some people sayItalian sounds elegant and lively wheras German is harsch and ugly. But it is all personal preverence. We all have different thoughts and feelings about things, even about languages. Judgments about a language variety's beauty are dependent on the nature of the context in which the views are being expressed and tied to the fabric of our national and social identities. It also depends on what accent or dialect you have. Britisch English can be found charming and posh whereas an Australian accent can be considered vulgar. 

We believe views about beauty and ugliness of languages and dialects are built on cultural norms, pressures and social connotations. 

 

I think this is a myth that you hear a lot. Just like German, Dutch is often considered harsch or they say that we talk like we have a frog in out throat. I believe it is just personal preverence. We all find different things beautiful and ugly.
