There are more than 135 different sign languages around the world. Why isn't there just one sign language? That would be a lot easier, right? 

After the sign language got introduced to countries all over the world they adapted it to their own language. And a lot of new signs were made by people naturally communicating with each other. It would be impossible to keep one sign language, because every country made up their own new signs. 

Even the American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) are different eventhough their both English languages.

There are also differences between official languages and dialects.
